From dancing to DJing
Before moving behind the decks, Neiken took part in urban dance competitions and taught children. The hip-hop DJs she met through dance sparked her interest in mixing.
Discovering Kizomba DJing
A festival in Italy became a turning point when she heard DJ Stefanio Lima playing and was invited to try his controller. She went on to develop her skills with support from DJs including David Ruela and DJ Ghostface.
Building a musical community
Neiken shared mixes on SoundCloud and reached listeners through live streams during the pandemic. Practice, mentorship and connections with dancers and fellow DJs have been central to her development.
